This weekend we saw the return of Glastonbury to Worthy Farm in the United Kingdom after a two-year hiatus, and with it came five days of desirable festival garb.
Glastonbury is the pinnacle of music festivals in the UK in terms of both style and the quality of the performers. Celebrities like Alexa Chung, Billie Eilish, and Sienna Miller, who have been staples at Glasto for years, returned this year with classic takes on the festival dress (Hunter wellies, Barbour jackets).
This year, though, a fresh bunch of revelers showed up, sporting an unexpectedly original take on festy farmyard attire making the event worth attending. Let’s explore them!
Iris Law
During the fest, Iris Law, daughter of Jude Law and Sadie Frost, showed out at the paddocks dressed in a bright red cargo suit, a green and grey tweed sports sweatshirt, pink gumboots, a chunky pearl necklace, cream bug-eyed sunglasses, and white ribbon hair bows. Funky!
Poppy Delevingne
A typical Glastonbury attendee wears denim cutoffs, Hunter wellies, long textured hair, a fur-trimmed boho jacket, and, of course, a drink cup. Well, this look definitely appeared sporty.
Alexa Chung
If Alexa Chung hadn't been seen in a field while wearing a Barbour jacket, there would have been no Glastonbury, right?
Unfortunately for us, we'll never know since the ultimate “Glasto It” girl stuck with her tried-and-true 2022 outfit combination of a blue shift dress and leather boots.
But that doesn't mean she can't bring her to look up to date; we love that she ditched the disposable plastic cups in favor of a reusable steel ones.
Skin
Skunk Anansie frontwoman Skin, who made history as the first Black woman to headline Glastonbury in 1999, had another unforgettable performance this past weekend while decked out in a bright yellow twill power suit with the words "Clit Rock" scrawled over the chest.
Princess Beatrice Of Wales
Princess Beatrice attended the event in a Zimmerman khaki dress, proving that the royal family's favorite costume, the coat dress, can be worn in a muddy Somerset field.
Beatrice paired her outfit with a pair of recycled yoga mat insole Thousand Fell shoes. If you wear white sneakers in a muddy field with 200,000 other joyful revelers, for example, the company guarantees to recycle the footwear after you have pounded them to death.
St. Vincent
When St. Vincent performed as Annie Clark, she wore a custom pink Gucci x Adidas playsuit, which Observer critic Dorian Lynskey called a "beautifully conceived spectacle."
The garment has been likened to everyone from Norma Jennings from Twin Peaks to David Bowie's Young Americans era, but there's no denying that it's also Annie's.
Lorde
With freshly bleached blonde hair, a lilac leotard, and a pair of red sheer tights, Lorde made an impressive entrance on the Glastonbury stage.
When asked how she felt about the occasion, Lorde said, "This place is Disneyland." That's the ideal, anyhow. This is the weekend that all artists have been waiting for. And so, I must say, thanks for allowing a small New Zealand eccentric a place in your hearts."
Neil Finn
The third day of the Glastonbury Music Festival 2022 at Worthy Farm near Pilton features a performance by Neil Finn of Crowded House on the Pyramid Stage. He wore a '70s-style shirt from Zambesi's winter 22 collections to keep Aotearoa close to his heart as Crowded House played on the Pyramid Stage.
