A Brief Overview of Screen Printing Process

In screen printing, ink is transferred onto fabric through a mesh screen, except in areas blocked by a stencil. Cloth screen printing is generally popular for its ability to produce vibrant, long-lasting designs with high detail and color accuracy.

01

Pre-Production

In this phase, the design is finalized and prepared for printing. In screen printing, the ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a surface. To do this screen making involves modifying certain areas of the screen impervious to printing ink to create a stencil, which blocks the printing ink from passing through the screen. In this phase, we also send CAD to the customer for their approval, and the sampling procedure goes on. Once we achieve the preferred color, we send strikeoff to customer for their approval.

02

Production

During the production phase, the prepared screen is placed on the printing press and the material to be printed is positioned under the screen, so it can be RFD/Dyed. The types of screen-printing techniques we follow include pigment, procian, discharge, rapid sole. Fabriclore screen printing facilities include both manual printing by hands and by flatbed printing machine.

03

Post Production

Post-production involves finishing touches. The querying, press, stanter, and folding procedures are used in pigment screen printing. In the procian printing, silicate, washing, softener, press, stanter and folding processes are repeated. Whereas in discharge there is an addition steaming process and in rapid sole, acid wash softening technique is used.

Overview of Screen Printing on Fabric:

In screen printing, ink is transferred onto fabric through a mesh screen, except in areas blocked by a stencil. Cloth screen printing is generally popular for its ability to produce vibrant, long-lasting designs with high detail and color accuracy. The perks of the printing technique include durability, which makes the method ideal for garments that undergo frequent washing, and versatility. In addition, screen printing in fabric is relatively more cost-effective than other techniques and it allows better creative flexibility.

Screen Printed Fabric Processing:

Our screen-printing process proceeds through three detailed steps listed as follows-

  • Pre-Production: In this phase, the design is finalized and prepared for printing. A stencil or screen is created with the desired image, and it is made of a fine mesh and coated with a photosensitive emulsion. Then, the design is transferred onto the screen using a light exposure unit, which hardens the emulsion, except where light is blocked. This unhardened emulsion is then washed away, and it leaves a negative stencil of the design. In addition, the colors are also mixed in this phase to match the design specifications, and the printing materials (such as fabric or paper) are prepared.
  • Production: During the production phase, the prepared screen is placed on the printing press and the material to be printed is positioned under the screen. Then, ink is applied to the screen and spread across the design area using a squeegee. The ink passes through the open areas of the stencil onto the materials, and what’s more interesting is for multi-color designs, this process is repeated with separate screens for each color, hence ensuring precise alignment between hues. When the application is over, the material is dried using heat to cue the ink, so it will be durable and long-lasting.

Post-production: Post-production involves finishing touches and quality control. All our products move from more than 20 QA points to ensure every yard of fabric is flawless before they are delivered to the customer. Printed items are inspected for any defects or inconsistencies. If necessary, the professionals also do touch-ups, and the final products are then packaged and prepared for delivery. In fact, this stage also includes additional processes like folding, labelling, and tagging, depending on the products end use. We offer a wide range of screen printing services to our clients. In fact, to help you get started, here are the different types of mentioned below.

Types of Screen Printing Technique:

  • Pigment Printing: Bold and Beautiful

Pigment printing is all about vibrant, long-lasting colors that stand out. Using pigments that sit on the surface of the fabric, pigment printing ensures your designs are as bold as your imagination. Whether your brand is looking to create a statement piece or a cohesive collection, our pigment printing services can offer unmatched clarity with sharpness.

  • Procion Printing: Soft and Luxurious

Procion printing can be done on several fibers including cotton, silk, and rayon. In procion printing a reactive due is used that chemically bonds with the fabric and results in bold, soft, and washable prints. You can use procion printing for producing a wide range of hues from soft pastels to intense shades. The fabric in this screen print fabric manufacture technique remains naturally soft and breathable, the prints are highly resistant to washing and sunlight and the process demands less water and chemicals as compared to other methods.

  • Discharge Printing: Unique and Intricate

Are you looking for a screen printing technique where the dye is removed from the fabric to create a design and you can also add new colors during the process? If the answer is yes, discharge printing is the way to go. The method allows detailed, intricate patterns with a soft hand feel that’s perfect for creating vintage or distressed looks, and it can be used on both light and dark fabrics. Discharge printing is perfect for creating unique, one-of-a-kind designs on t-shirts, hoodies, and other fashion items. If you are looking to add a touch of individuality and sophistication to your textiles, our discharge printing services are the way to go.
