Every year the theme of the Met Gala is with the utmost consideration. What story does it tell? What difference does it make in the fashion for the future run? This year it was the “In America: Fashion Anthology”

The event is a fundraiser dedicated to New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, in recognition of the Vogue's editor-in-chief, who has been a chair member of the museum since 1995.

Throughout the event, we saw many actors, models, and singers who brought their fashion to the evening.

Natasha Poonawalla

Indian socialite and businesswoman, Natasha Poonawalla stunned everyone by nailing the “Gilded Glamor” theme.

She brought the Indian elegance by wearing a custom handcrafted tulle saree with a long floor-sweeping trail. The saree was embroidered with silk floss thread and was embellished with chamfer beads, crystals, sequins, and decorated printed velvet

The bustier was designed by Schiaparelli whereas the saree and the jewelry were designed by Sabyasachi. She kept her hair sleek open, for her makeup she opted for a bold winged eyeliner, metallic eyeshadow, beaming highlighter, and a nude pink lip shade.

Kim Kardashian

For her 9th Met Gala 2022 outfit, Kim Kardashian wore an actual Marilyn Monroe outfit which she wore to serenade John F. Kennedy in 1962.

The dress was made by Jean Louis featuring an unlined flesh-colored gown with over 6,000 hand-sewn crystals.

She wore the dress with a white fur coat just like Marilyn Monroe wore.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi surprised everyone by straying from the Met Gala's traditional attire.

This year she wore a dress by Versace, the shiny deep red latex corset catsuit with pointed boots and skintight pants. She carried a custom puffer coat over her outfit.

She carried it with a ruby necklace and wine-colored lipstick. She slicked back her hair into an architectural updo.

According to her designer, her outfit was a modern definition of a coat from the late 1800s.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker arrived on the red carpet wearing a ball gown made of silk, and taffeta that featured a fitted top by Christopher John Rogers

The gown was inspired by “Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley” who was the first black female designer. The veil was inspired by the opulence as well as decadence of the Gilded Age.

She finished her look with an updo and a fascinator which was designed by Philip Treacy.

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish certainly understood how to make a fashion statement, even though her look was no different but her look truly paid homage to this year’s theme of Gilded Glamor.

Her look was inspired by the John Singer Sargent portrait of Madame Paul Poirson which was painted in 1885.

She tied her raven locks into a bun and carried a choker with a corsage similar to the portrait of Madame Poirson. She paired her outfit with vegan beige platform shoes.

She not only upcycled her look but also upcycled her entire outfit. Yes! Her outfit was eco-friendly, Amazing, right?

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj stepped on the carpet wearing a leather strapless black-feathered tier gown. Her outfit was designed by Riccardo Tisci.

She accessorized her dress with a unique black leather baseball cap and a headband. She went hard on the glam, gleaming in shiny black sequins that appeared across her arms, neck, and face.

Cardi B

Cardi B

Cardi B made an impressive outlandish entrance, not just dripping in gold Versace but also coming out from a Versace Barocco print-wrapped convertible.

Her outfit gilded the theme in a custom Atelier Versace gown embellished with a kilometer of golden chains along with the brand’s signature “Medusa head medallions” that took around 20 Versace artisans more than 1,300 hours to complete.

Blake Lively

Blake Lively

Among the first few guests to arrive at the steps of the Museum were the event co-host Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds.

She wore a copper strapless gown with a giant bustle bow and matching gloves by Versace. Her outfit was inspired by Manhattan's intricate architecture.

But wait! This is not it.

The satin bow on her skirt was then untied and transformed into a bright turquoise gown from glowing orange. Her dress was inspired by the Statue of Liberty.

She paired her outfit with a beautiful tiara featuring 7 spikes, another reference to Lady Liberty.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner wore an off-White bridal dress and backward baseball cap veil at Met Gala 2022. She wore a tiered tulle skirt and a mesh-net T-shirt with the logo “Off”.

Due to her offbeat outfit, people criticized her but without caring about them she carried herself like a star and ofcourse, she is looking so pretty!

Basically, her outfit was meant to honor the late designer Virgil Abloh who died last year. It was a great tribute to one of the greatest American talents in the fashion industry.

Not just these stars but also Elon Musk, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabelo, and various other celebrities attended the Met Gala this year. And all were looking just top-notch, ofcourse we did miss Zendaya, Ariana Grande, and other celebrities who were not able to attend the event.
