What is Jersey Fabric?
- Jersey is a kind of knit fabric that is known for its softness and stretchability.
- Originally, it was made with wool, but these days, jersey can be crafted with pure cotton and also with synthetic fibers.
- The back side of jersey knit fabric is stacked with loops, whereas the front side of the jersey knit fabric has a modest and smooth single rib knit.
History
- Jersey was invented in the Middle Ages in Jersey, Channel Islands, thus the name.
- The fabric was regarded as appropriate solely for men's clothing and was used in the production of men's underwear and sweaters for fishermen.
- Coco Chanel, however, is credited with revolutionizing the jersey market and introducing the fabric to the women's fashion business in 1916.
- She did this by creating jersey dresses and coats that were pleasant to wear.

Care Instructions
- Pre-wash the fabric before sewing it.
