#1 Sabyasachi

Sabyasachi isn’t just a name anymore, it’s the epitome of luxury made by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The Kolkata-based couturier has also forayed into jewellery designing, but its fashion brand is a legacy. Launched in the year 1999, Sabyasachi is India’s largest and most influential designer brands that focus on extravagance. Many celebrities have worn Sabyasachi on their wedding day and the brilliant fusion of hues, textures and patterns is the reason behind it.

While most fashion brands focus on the principle of perfection, at Sabyasachi, the design philosophy involves “personalized imperfections of the human hand.” The designs are also enriched with several inspirations from exotic, ethnic European art, indigenous colours and capes of French impressionists, such as Henry Matisse and Monet. The designs tailored by the Sabyasachi label are created using traditional art forms like gota work, bandhani prints, and hand dyeing with modern silhouettes.

#2 Manish Malhotra

A staple in the Bollywood wardrobe, Manish Malhotra is a luxury fashion brand founded by Manish Malhotra, a Mumbai-based couturier. The artistic ethereal designs aren’t just limited to India, the Manish Malhotra label is also worn by many global celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Jean Claude Van Damme, and even the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The decadent lehengas in his label are adorned with exquisite detailing and the designs have been versatile since their inception, which was about two decades earlier.

Masaba Gupta is a fashion icon herself and she makes some of the simplest designs cool with fusion elements. As a homegrown Indian label, the brand experiments a lot with a joyous Caribbean soul, which creates unconventional prints, motifs and draping styles.

#6 Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

This is one fashion label globally renowned for classical elegance. Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla is a brand known for simple yet artistic designs. The brand believes in the resurrection of ancient embroideries and techniques like Zardozi, Chikankari and Tharad, and if you have seen the wave of clips on social media about the Ambani wedding, you would see how many celebrities flaunted the AJSK elegantly with its regal vibe.

Wrap-up

India has always been a well-known destination for textiles since time immemorial. However, its ancient art gradually got lost in the sands of time. However, recently some designers like Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla are bringing these art forms to the limelight and finally, craftsmen are getting their fair share of recognition. Celebrity-endorsed brands are preferred by people because they have credibility, and some designers are worth every penny if you consider the amount of hard work and dedication that goes into sourcing high-quality fabric and sewing it. Every stitch is handmade and it takes time, so no wonder, celebrity-endorsed fashion brands are worth a shout-out!
