Albert Cloth - Fabriclore

What is Albert Cloth?

  • Albert cloth is a type of thick woolen fabric that can be turned inside out and has a different color or pattern on each side.
  • In the past, other names for the fabric were in use, including "plaid-back coverts" and "golf cloth."
  • The weaving technique that is used to create Albert cloth is called a double weave, and it results in two layers of fabric being woven together at the same time.
Albert Cloth

  • Even though the excellent method of double weaving was developed around the year 700 AD, it wasn't until the 19th century that double cloth wool was used by a lot of people.
  • Soon after, it came to be known as the Albert Cloth Fabric. This is something that became popular in the fashion clothing sector and continues to enjoy that status to this day.
