What is Dimity Fabric?
- Cotton is the most common component in the construction of dimity fabric, which is a lightweight fabric.
- It is weaved in such a manner that it generates tiny checks or stripes that are elevated to the surface.
- Although it may be patterned, dimity fabric is often left uncolored or white in color. However, it can also be left uncolored.
- It withstands a lot of wear and tear and doesn't yellow as quickly as a lot of other textiles do.
- Even if the material is not dyed, appliquéd, or patterned with needlework, a weave that has a raised pattern on one side of the cloth has a symmetry that provides it with visual appeal.
History
- Dimity was originally woven from silk or wool fabric, but beginning in the 18th century, practically all of the dimity that is produced now is made from cotton.
