The biggest of 2016 trends
If there is one thing that has been spotted in every fashion designer’s collection, is the blend of traditional with a contemporary look. The other things which defines the trend of this season is the fit of the clothes and the comfort of wearing that outfit which has been a supreme factor in designing any outfit thereby replacing tight-fit clothes with tunics, drop-cotch pants and comfy silhouettes.
And what has not been carried on from the last seasons is heavily embellished outfits.This season is all about minimalism with elegance. Designers have been playing with different prints to create outfits with patchworks from various prints. A blend of checks, florals and polka dot patchworks on khakhi or cotton pants have been a trend-setter. We bring to you some of the best trends from this season’s Summer/resort and Winter/festive fashion weeks 2016.
The flairs

The 80’s fashion is back bringing bell sleeves in trend again. Fashion designers have been creative in experimenting with bell sleeves for different outfits- sarees, lehengas, lehenga jackets, casual tops, kurtas.
Gaurang shah, with its statement bell-sleeves charmed the audience with the traditional numbers. The collection included banarasis in metallic shades with creative drapes. The collection gave us a major style trend of metallic look outfit and flowy sleeves.
Neeta lulla’s collection from Amazon India fashion week summer/resort 2016 blended bell-sleeves trend perfectly with bridal wears. It gives us an inspiration to try the new trends even with your bridal attires.
The Sultry Velvets

Velvets are evergreen and looks fancy with deep colours. The blend of various fabrics with velvets can also create mesmerizing outfits. Be it dupattas, mini dresses, midis, kurta tops – velvets work for anything.
“Char Chinar’ collection by Rahul and Shikha was all about a blend of Persian and Ikat fabrics with Kashmiri hand embroidery. It was an alluring combination of black velvet dupatta with Ikat anarkalis with velvet border. The collection took us in the grandeur of Mughal era.
Kalol Dutta collection was a mash-up of 1955 inspired outfits. Darker hues on velvets looked absolutely divine. The collection started with display of baggy silhouettes, velvets, graphical polka dots, all in darker hues.
Abstract geometric prints

Monochrome trend has been seen since last season. But geometrical abstract prints in pastel hues have been rocking the fashion shows this season. From horizontal lines to vertical zig-zags, geometric prints can be seen everywhere.
Anupama Dayal’s collection in Amazon India fashion week Winter/festive 2016 was inspired from Nagaland tribes. The colours were bright red, black and white. The fabrics of silk and cotton were carefully blended with geometric prints and is a definitely must-have in your wardrobe this season.

Anita dongre’s collection from amazon India fashion week winter 2016 was also inspired from geometric prints. It gave us some major styling goals of combination of aqua blue and whites with abstract prints.

Folksy Checks
For a perfect street fashion, ginghams, windowpanes, madras and plaid patterns are some must-haves for your wardrobe this season. Celebrities have been spotted in carrying checks with different styles of outfits and jump suits with monochromatic checks is something you can try your hands on.

Eka’s collection in Amazon India Fashion Summer/resort 2016 was a complete mixture of simplicity and elegance. It was a blend of summery check printed dresses and skirts paired with drapes. Monochromes or pastels, checks are definitely a try on this winters.
The Bold metallic
Hemang Aggarwal’s collection at amazon India fashion week left us spell-bound with showcase of trend from 1970’s. Yes, the metallic outfits. Experiment with your creativity this winters to create enticing gold-inspired outfits. Twin suits, sarees, skirts, pants – metallic look is so enthralling.
If you want add just a pinch of metallic look, play with combination of different fabrics and metallic in bright hues. It gives you a perfect contemporary look.

Sanjay Garg showcased a westernized catalogue of traditional clothing. Palazzos, slip dresses in cotton and silk, jackets and coats was a total delicacy to the eyes of audience. The metallic inspired collection is what you can try this wedding season if you are looking for something different.

Ornate pants
The one style which was carried on by many fashion Designers in Amazon India fashion week Winter/festive 2016 was different trend in pants. Rajesh Pratap Singh’s gives us an inspiration to play with various pant styles this season. Metallic silver narrow ankle length pants looked sizzling.
The other trend in pants was of the drop-cotch pants.The collection is also a trend-setter for men pants definitely. One idea which the designer focussed on men pants was the volume. Layered, boxy and pocketed trousers is what men can try this season.

Fashion designer Aarti Vijay gupta’s collection ‘Winter Garden’ showcased at Amazon India fashion week winter 2016 was all about vintage florals and garden prints on organic handloom fabrics.
It gave us major styling goals of block prints on pants. Doodlage’s collection portrayed frayed patchworks. Check patchwork on denim ankle length pants gave a trendy boho look.

The White play
Whites are definitely in for this festive season. Why not go for floral inspired whites if you are bored of wearing heavy embellished outfits for weddings.
Anita Dongre’s ‘love notes’ Collection showcased at fashion week summer/resort 2016 ends the search of every bridesmaid. Aqua blues with whites in form of long slit kurtas, cholis, draped dupattas dazzled the ramp. It was an amalgamation of three major trends of this season- whites, geometric prints and not too much embellishment on outfits.
