Weddings! It all actually sums up in that word alone, but it is truly a personal experience no matter how grand it is. It’s uprooting your entire life for a new journey that is waiting for you, and it can get really overwhelming to decide, what to carry and what to leave behind! To save you of panic & dilemma, this wedding season we bring you a checklist of stuff that a bride-to-be should be looking for while shopping for her trousseau!

 1 Indian Attires

Expect a lot of relatives visiting you or you visiting them so keeping some bomb Indian wear comes handy. You can throw in a few salwaar suits, kurta-pant sets, anarkalis & sarees for family get-togethers and intimate pujas. Having a few pastel ones for lunch & morning weddings and bright or deep ones for dinners & receptions will last you a few of such occasions!

2 Deep-Back Blouses

Nothing spices up the saree like a deep- back blouse! Get a couple of printed and embroidered ones to match with your plain sarees whereas buying a few in neutral solids too with the heavy sarees. It would be rather wise to get them customized & stitched for a perfect fit.

3 Maxi Dresses

A maxi- dress is definitely the convergence point of fashion and comfort. Pick out a few flowy dresses to keep stylish and simple. Even though florals are the go-to choice you can find quite a few stunners in traditional motifs. Crafted with fabrics like Mughal Cotton, Ajrak, Kalamkari, Shibori, Ikat, Muslin & Modal Satin, these dresses are a big saviour for days when you want to keep it minimal and comfy, yet make those heads turn.

4 Dupattas

Never underestimate the flair a dupatta can bring to your attire, a plain daily-wear kurta can be transformed by teaming it with a heavy dupatta. It is essential to for any bride-to-be able to reuse her outfits on different occasions and a dupatta is a perfect aide for the job. Make sure you add a Kalamkari, Modal Satin Ajrak, Bandhani, Phulkari, Embroidered or a Banarasi Silk dupatta to your trousseau!

5 Stoles/Scarves

Basic outfits can really turn into fancy ones with a simple addition of a scarf or stole. Get yourself a couple of printed ones in geometric and floral patterns to take your look to the next level! Pairing them with your outfits should come easy when bought in neutral tones. A few bohemian stoles in the wardrobe can really help you stand out when you don’t feel like dressing up too much.

6 High Heels

You’re by default expected to act ladylike the moment you get married and hence heels come into the picture. A good pair of heels adds a flare of poise and charm to a new bride’s wardrobe. We suggest picking heels for both ethnic and contemporary ensembles.

7 Ethnic Flats

For the more laid-back days pack a few flats! Mojris/Jutti, Kolhapuris, and some sandals. Choose them in different colors as well as styles so they gel well with your new and versatile wardrobe.

8 Sindoor

Coming a little later in the list but actually a bare essential, it is something that in most cultures is given to the bride anyway, but just in case it somehow is overlooked in all the hustle-bustle we suggest you pack some with your bags. Even though the tradition calls for a powered form no one uses it on a regular and upon research you’ll find them in enormous shapes and forms by various brands.

9 Casuals

It is just amazing what a basic pair of clean washed jeans can do for an outfit so its only wise to stack up a couple of them to bring your post-marriage wardrobe together. A solid tee or shirt paired with a classic pair of fitted jeans would do you good when you don’t feel like dressing up and still look put together!

10 Makeup

There's a lot of fuss around makeup these days, we see tonnes of products and tools being pushed to us each day which is anything but helpful. In such confusing times, you should stick to what you need and what suits you. Some of the basic products that you can definitely look into are- Foundation, concealer, pressed powder, eyeliner, kohl pencil, mascara and a few shades of lipsticks that go with your complexion.

11 Jewellery

Having the right accessories can be the difference between having a bomb outfit and a total dud. It is absolutely crucial to gather a few neutral pieces to go with your wardrobe, meaning you should have some traditional and contemporary sets both on the heavy and lighter sides. A chunky ring would add a personality to your look so keep an eye out for them when shopping.

12 Clutches

Women have always been at the loss of pocket privileges and hence are forced to carry around bags in order to keep our essentials at an arm’s reach. Since we must do it why not do it in style! Look out for classy indo-western clutches that can at least fit your phone and wallet. Choose the colors wisely to match your wardrobe.

13 Swimwear

Flaunt your body in a haute swimsuit at the beach or simply by the pool. If this is your first time buying one, we suggest you go for the one piece, but you consider yourself a risk-taker the two pieces are calling your name!

14 Lingerie

Probably the least talked about but also the most important content of a wedding trousseau- Lingerie. Although, neglected a perfect lingerie set is the base of any ensemble, therefore, focus on getting a few basics, a classy as well as shop for ones that go with deep cuts and backless dresses.

This was us just trying to touch the trousseau bubble for we know it takes a lot for a woman to feel home at a foreign place, but we had to give it a shot.
