How to Choose Wedding Outfits As a Guest

How to Choose Wedding Outfits As a Guest

In my opinion, it is fair to state that we have progressed since 1840. Immigration and globalization, for instance, have facilitated the mixing of cultural traditions.

Different weddings, such as the traditional Indian ceremony, are options for invitees. To an outsider, the concept of a wedding guest dress may seem like a mystery, and this is especially true if you are unfamiliar with local traditions.

So, you're probably trying to figure out your wedding guest dress for the upcoming wedding. In a nutshell, there aren't any strict rituals or required attire. There are various factors that affect our choice of dresses to wear to a wedding.

We felt it would be helpful to give you a little of context before we get into our "wedding guest outfits" guide.

Note that there is a wide variety of wedding ceremonies used in India. Hindu rituals are the norm for most ceremonies that play a role in determining our wardrobe. Apart from this, there are some other grounds that influence our choices.

And here, we would discuss how to choose outfits for different aspects such as function type, your role in the wedding, body type, season and color combination.

Function

Function

A traditional Indian wedding lasts a whole week, beginning with the ganesh pooja and continuing through the mehandi and sangeet ceremonies and the Hindu ceremonial day. As the significance and events of each wedding day vary, so too should the clothes chosen for the celebration.

Attire for Hindu ceremonies and the Ganesh puja should be simple but colorful and respectful to the culture.

Since Hindu ceremonies are very relaxed and you'll want to feel at ease, a simple suit or saree with understated accessories would do.

You may be creative with daytime events like mehandi ceremonies by wearing things like indo-western or crop top skirts or lehenga. Dresses made of lightweight fabrics, such as a floral lehenga, silk dhoti, or mirror-embellished lehenga, are appropriate for daytime functions like the mehndi and the roka, while the velvet lehenga, embroidery work, banarasi saree, and sequined saree are more appropriate for evening functions like the sangeet.

Your Role in The Wedding

Your Role in The Wedding

When looking for an Indian bride or groom, it's important to keep your position in the wedding in mind above all else. Younger and more gorgeous is better if you want to be a bridesmaid. Family members of the bride and groom are encouraged to wear formal attire. And if you're going to a formal wedding, like a friend's, don't go overboard.

Body Type

Body Type

Remember that you have your own unique shape and figure, complete with imperfections and curves, while shopping for a wedding dress. If your figure is more apple-shaped, you should stick to more classic fabrics like cotton and silk while dressing. Meanwhile, chiffon and georgette, which are both known to accentuate the waistline, are not flattering on pear-shaped figures.

Most feminine body types, such as hourglasses, look great with a blouse and lehenga with embroidered embroidery.

Select a drape that has a substantial base fabric. Women who are curvy are not limited in what they may wear, whereas women who are straight can show off their curves.

Season

Season

It is important to take the season into account while picking an outfit for a Hindu wedding, with winter and summer being the most common times for ceremonies. Dresses with light, airy fabrics like cotton, net, linen, or silk are perfect for warm-weather weddings. Lighten up and be imaginative instead of going for the dramatic.

You can't go wrong with a saree or a lehenga for a winter wedding. Wearing embroidered jackets at your winter wedding is a great way to add a royal touch and keep warm. Fabrics like velvet, silk, banarasi, and those with a lot of embellishment are ideal for the colder months.

Color Combination

Color Combination

The wedding dress's color and design are also major factors in the selection process. Experiment with a wide range of colors, from bright to dark, but keep the design's style in mind.

Wear a dark-colored embroidered blouse with a pestle-colored skirt or lehenga. Black is inappropriate for a traditional Hindu wedding, but royal blue is a great alternative if you're looking to wear anything dark.

By now, you should have a firm grasp on what to look for while shopping for an Indian wedding ensemble. So, go ahead and select your ideal wedding dress fabric, keeping these things in mind. You may buy wedding dress fabric in its raw state and have it altered to your specifications.

With so many options, you can choose any wedding guest dress for upcoming events.
